Robot vacuums and mops are becoming more capable. They pass our tests on cleaning and can take care of a variety of flooring. Look for models that allow you to choose from multiple modes, use their charging docks to automatically empty and clean up stairs.
A lot of the top models are compatible with your smartphone. Look for an app that lets you save maps, schedules, and select cleaning modes.
1. Eufy Omni S1 Pro
The gunmetal and gloss black Omni S1 Pro from Eufy is among the most impressive mop and robot vacuum combos available. It makes use of lidar to navigate, creating maps of rooms and floors.
When I tested the S1, it was quick to locate our downstairs, which has Linoleum flooring in the kitchen/dining room and bathrooms, along with medium-pile carpeting and a large area rug. It was capable of driving close to walls and even across thresholds that are raised without issue. However, it had some difficulty getting down the stairs in one pass. The S1 performed well in cleaning hard floors. Its mop drove smoothly on its flat side and lifted itself when it was near carpets or rug.
Prior to each mopping session the docking station on the S1 automatically emptys its dust bin and refills its water tank with clean filtered ozonated water. The dock also includes a cleaning solution in the water to ensure deep cleaning. The S1 water tank can hold enough for 12 mopping sessions, however this will vary depending on the frequency you use the mop.
The S1 requires regular maintenance, just like any other 2-in-1 robots. For this, you'll need to clean the water tank that is dirty regularly to avoid it from clogging. Also, you'll need to clean the swivel wheels and sensors regularly to prevent them from becoming clogged with dust or dirt. Overall, the S1 is easy to maintain, especially compared to other models that require more hands-on maintenance.
2. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo Complete
This all-in-one robot vacuum and mop combo from Ecovacs is a powerful option for your cleaning needs. The Ecovacs robot vacuum has 8,700Pa of suction, and comes with a number of innovative features, including full home mapping, voice control, and smart path-planning to avoid obstacles and cleans furniture. The mopping capabilities of the robot are impressive. Rotating mops actually lift the floor and scrub it, rather than simply drag a pad across a surface. The mops are also cleaned and dried at the base station, as required.
This robot combo has an easy interface that guides you throughout the process. It also comes with a hand-vacuum that can be used to clean hard-to reach areas that the robot can't reach. There are also two water tanks which are automatically filled or empty. It also has a range of useful settings to fine-tune your cleaning preferences.
The Deebot X2 Combo Complete is a good vacuum cleaner. It has a powerful suction that is able to effortlessly remove dirt and other debris that other robots struggle with. Its navigation abilities are also pretty good, although it could get stuck on small area mats and rugs in my home (which you can alleviate by creating virtual boundaries in the app). Its mopping is quite excellent, too, with a pair of spinning mop pads that actually lift and scrub floors instead of just dragging the pad over it. The mops are also cleaned with heated water, and dried in the base station whenever required. The mops can also be refilled at the top of the station when required.
3. Dreame X40 ultra
Dreame launched the high-end X30 Ultra earlier this year, but their new flagship robot mop and vacuum comes with more impressive features. It offers outstanding cleaning results and hands-free maintenance making it a top contender on our top mop and robot vacuum list. Its superior mapping abilities, RGB AI smart detection and a larger side brush will ensure an efficient, custom-designed clean is accomplished.
The X40 Ultra vacuums well, removing both fine and large debris. It works equally well on hard floors and carpets. It cleaned the dirtiest areas of our tests efficiently, avoiding pet hairs and other dirt. The sweeping power is enhanced by an additional side brush that automatically moves out to tackle difficult-to-reach corners, and an extendable mop pad that can be placed alongside baseboards.
Its navigation system is intelligent that can navigate narrow spaces and climbing the stairs without a hitch. It can easily move from one room to another without having to reverse direction it is a useful feature for homes with multiple rooms. Its obstacle avoidance system is not as advanced than some competitors However, it tends to leave a thick space over obstacles, which can result in missed spots.
The interface of the app is simple and well-organized. robot vacuum cleaners should be easy to use for both novices and experienced users. The app lets you schedule and manage cleanings, change the suction power and mopping settings and view 3D and 2D maps, and more. It can be controlled through the app, Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri and allows you to monitor its progress from anywhere. You can even use the X40 Ultra's camera remotely for real-time video monitoring. You'll require a reliable internet connection to access the app and external controls.
4. Roomba Q5 pro
A robot vacuum does a great job of removing dirt and debris but it's not always able to reach every last piece of dust. It is important to clean regularly, once a week. This is especially true for dust that accumulates in corners, on shelves and in crevices in your couch. Roborock's Q5 Pro, a 2-in-1 robot that both vacuums and mops, is designed to do just that. It is easy to connect it to your WiFI network at home and it works with Alexa or Apple Siri.
The Q5 is a stripped down version of the more expensive S-series models from the company, including the top-of-the-line Roborock S8 maxV ultra. It has the same LIDAR mapping sensors, however it is cheaper because it doesn't have mopping capabilities and has an aluminum body.
The Q5 remains one of the most powerful mopping and vacuums we've seen in this price range, even though it's not equipped to clean your floors. It has a powerful suction of 5500Pa and an automatic-empty system that means you don't have to empty the bin by hand each time. It comes with a smart app that lets you schedule cleaning and choose the floor type. It also features an automatic water tank filling and washing system to allow hands-free operation.
Its mops are also impressive, with a 2700Pa power that can take on pet hair and dirt on carpets and hard flooring. The Q5 was one of the few robots that we tested that did not have a problem with high-pile area carpets and rugs. However, it was able to not remove kitty-poop or cable tangles. This isn't a surprise, since it does NOT include AI-powered obstacle-avoidance.
5. K10 Plus
K10 Plus is the quietest robovac we have ever tested. It also uses a unique mapping system that helps it reach tight spaces and corners that other vacuums cannot. The K10 Plus also is able to collect more dust in a larger bin, so you don't have to empty it as often. Furthermore, robot vacuum cleaners comes with washable filters that further lower the costs associated with using the device. The robot can also recognize carpets and increase suction when needed. You can also mark off areas you would like the robot to avoid using the app.
